ENGLISH COURSE IN BROADSTAIRS (KENT, ENGLAND)

This year our English course took place in Kent School. The school is located in the town of Broadstairs, county Kent, England. It took place from 12th to 18th of June. Thirty- eight students from 2º and 4º of ESO and four teachers participated in the course.In Broadstairs we stayed with families. In the mornings, we attended classes while in the  afternoons and evenings we had different kinds of activities (karaoke, sports, barn dance, workshops, quizz games, cinema…). We also visited some nearby towns such as Margate, Ramsgate and Canterbury.On Saturday, we spent the whole day in London. First we took a boat from Greenwich to Westminster so we could see London from the River Thames. Then, we went sightseeing. We saw the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and Saint James`s Park where we had lunch. In the afternoon we went to Westminster Abbey, the Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and we stopped in Picadilly Circus for shopping. Later we walked through China Town and we got to Covent Garden where we also had some free time. We spent the night in a hotel near Stanstead Airport and we took the flight back to Asturias early in the morning.It was a great and unforgettable experience for all of us. We practiced English, made new friends and had a lot of fun.Here you can see some pictures of this activity.

JOURNEY TO HOLLAND

EXCHANGE WITH THE SCHOOL “MARNE COLLEGE
( BOLSWARD, FRISLAND, THE NETHERLANDS)

JOURNEY TO THE NETHERLANDS ( 8th to 15th May, 2016)

4º ESO Bilingual students visited The Netherlands from the 8th to the 15th of May. It was the  second part of the exchange with the Dutch school “Marne College” in Bolsward, Frisland.

We stayed with our partners´ families and attended lessons in Marne College.

At school, we participated in an International  Water Conference that was held that week and had the opportunity to learn about the way water use is controlled in the participating countries.

We also presented our projects to the Dutch students about Asturias, Luanco and our school.

On the other hand, we participited in a varied planning of cultural activities, including a visit to Amsterdam.

It was an unforgettable experience for all of us. As well as practicing English, we got to know another European culture and we made new friends.

3º ESO  CRONOCRISOL PERFORMANCE

The 3º ESO bilingual students participated in the Music festival “Cronocrisol”, that took place in the School Cultural Week held from the 20th to the 23rd of April.The 3º years performed  the song  “Summer Nights”  taken from “ Grease”, the famous musical from the 50´s.We prepared the song in our English lessons, directed by the Music teacher Noemí González and our assistant teacher Anne Lee.We all had fun and enjoyed this activity a lot.

Baking with Anna

 During the cultural week, students of 4th ESO took a break to bake with Anna. They learned how to make scones with cream and jam, typical English treat that is usually taken in the afternoon, with a cup of tea, of course!

DUTCH STUDENTS VISIT LUANCO

The first part of the exchange with the school “Marne College” from Bolsward (The Netherlands) took place from the 17th to the 23rd of March. Seven Dutch students accompanied by a teacher visited Luanco and stayed with their partners’ families.

The day they arrived Spanish students showed them around the school. Next day, the Dutch students participated in the lessons with their partners and gave a talk about their country, town and school. That same day Spanish students prepared a tour in Luanco so that their new friends could get to know it as soon as possible and they also visited the Asturias Maritime Museum placed in our town.

Families organized different activities at the weekend.

Visits to the most important landmarks in Asturias, such as Covadonga and the lakes, Oviedo and Avilés were organized the following week days.

The experience was very positive and interesting for the students.

Cervantes & Shakespeare

As 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the deaths of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes, the students of 1st ESO Bilingual 2 prepared a presentation about their lives and works. It was really interesting and most of us learned a lot about the two authors.

The students also prepared a photostory version of their presentations for the celebration of Book Day at school.
