Interview with Anna by 4th ESO students

This year at school we are lucky to have Anna Lee as our teacher. She comes from Nottingham, England and she is 20 years old. She is studying Spanish and French at university and she wants to work as a teacher in the future. Let’s discover some things about her!

4th ESO BIL. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
ANNA. When I was at school I spent two years fundraising and then we spent a month in Borneo. We worked for a charity planting trees, building a kindergarten and teaching English. It was tough being in the jungle with no electricity, and I missed my mobile phone very much! But it was a great experience.

4th ESO BIL. Who are your heroes in real life?
ANNA. Selfless people. People like nurses, firefighters, … people who sacrifice themselves to help other people.

4th ESO BIL. What is your motto?
ANNA. Carpe diem, seize the day. I think we can’t take life too seriously, and we should laugh at our mistakes.

4th ESO BIL. If you were to die and come back as another person or thing, who or what would you choose?
ANNA. I would come back as a cat, because they do whatever they want and have a very easy life. Or I would like to come back as a ghost, to haunt people.

4th ESO BIL. What’s the quality you most admire in a man?
ANNA. In any person I admire a good sense of humour, I like people who make me laugh. I also like men who can cook!

4th ESO BIL. What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
ANNA. I consider the most overrated virtue immortality. Lots of people think that immortality is a cool thing but they do not realise that if they live forever they would be living on their own.

4th ESO BIL. Which talent would you most like to have?
ANNA. I find dancing a very important talent in people; I’d love to be able to dance. However, I can’t do it.

4th ESO BIL. Where would you like to live?
ANNA. To be honest, I’d like to live in Asturias because I’m very happy here. I find people from Asturias much more friendly than people from Britain.

4th ESO BIL. What do you most value in your friends?
ANNA. The thing that I most value in my friends is loyalty and, since I’m always the one who does and says stupid things, I really value the ability in my friends to laugh with me.

4th ESO BIL. What are your favourite names?
ANNA. I think Spanish names are much cooler than English names. I find English names quite boring. I like Alejandro, Roberto, Rafa and Jaime for boys and Claudia, Lucia and Laura for girls. In English, I like Laura, Lauren, Bela, Ruby for girls and Tristan, Elijah and Callum for boys.

4th ESO BIL. How would you like to die?
ANNA. I would like to die laughing and surrounded by all my loved ones.

We have enjoyed this interview a lot. Thank you very much for answering our questions, Anna. We really wish you a very happy stay in our school and in Spain too!

Cinema in the Bilingual Section

At the end of this term, the 16th December, the bilingual students went to see the film “A Christmas Carol”.

The film is based on “A Christmas Carol”, a short novel by Charles Dickens. This film, which lasts 95 minutes, was produced by Walt Disney and directed by Robert Zemeckis. He is the director of many famous films, such as “Back to the Future”, “Forest Gump” and “The Polar Express”.

Here is a summary of the plot:

Ebezener Scrooge (Jim Carrey) doesn’t like Christmas and he celebrates it in a bad mood. Mr. Scrooge is mean with everybody, nobody likes him. He shouts to his servant (Gary Oldman) and to his nephew (Colin Firth). But on Christmas Eve the ghosts of the Past, Present and Future Christmas appear in his bedroom to take him in a trip along Christmas in his life, and making him face reality.

Asturian food

On 28th October, the students of 1st ESO _ bilingual group 2_ gave a presentation introducing the exquisite mysteries of Asturian food to our assistant this year, Anna. Thanks to our students' work, she got to discover cabrales cheese, how to prepare a delicious fabada or what a cachopo looks like. And we had a marañuelas tasting, of course!

Thriller

My name is Martin and I am going to explain the experience of dancing "Thriller" at my Secundary School.
My partners and I tried to dance well, but dancing "Thriller" is difficult. We had to do the dance with the other Bilingual and Non Bilingual classes.
Our part of the dance was short, but we did it twice. The teacher danced very well, she is a good dance teacher.

My class did six steps, the other ones were done by other groups.
